Still Pregnant... But Here's Some Pelvic Floor Support!

Hey there! Roxanne is still pregnant... but ANY moment now... Baby boy and Roxanne are looking great after her most recent prenatal check up with her midwife, so we are just waiting for labor to start!

Roxanne isn't really doing any "natural" induction methods, outside of drinking a tea she likes (but she is drinking it because she enjoys the taste, not really to induce labor). There is a lot of controversy on whether you should do natural induction methods or not--and I think it really depends on you and your individual preferences.

If you're just waiting for labor to begin, you may be better off just waiting for labor to begin. If you're pending an induction or maybe you need to kickstart labor for a variety of reasons, a natural induction method could help get things going (with convo with your provider). So, there are no blanket answers on what YOU should do. It really just depends on YOU and YOUR individual situation.

Here is our YouTube playlist with a full breakdown of a few different types of "natural" induction methods--but know that anything you're doing to kickstart labor is still technically an induction method. And as with any "intervention" it is always helpful to chat with your provider about your individual medical situation and their recommendations on you as an individual.

Final Days (or Weeks... Hours??) of Roxanne's Pregnancy!

Roxanne is in the final stretch of her pregnancy, and she is prepping for her first home birth! She has given birth in a hospital twice and a freestanding birth center once, so this will be her first time giving birth at home. After working closely as a student midwife with a homebirth midwife, Roxanne finally felt ready to go for a home birth!

Here is what she has prepped for her home birth (and what you may want to have packed if you're planning a hospital birth). Even with a home birth, it can be helpful to have a hospital bag packed if you need to transfer (and will make that transition a lot less stressful).

Hey there! Last week I shared how my motherhood fitness journey has shifted. For almost a decade, my training cycles revolved around preparing for pregnancy, prenatal fitness and birth prep, then postpartum recovery. There was always another restart coming. And now there isn’t. This might sound repetitive at this point, but I am definitely complete with four kids. I do not want more babies. But I am still sad that my pregnancy and birth chapter is closing. With every chapter shift in my life,...

Hey there! I hope your week has been going well. I’m on my way back from Los Angeles after teaching our pelvic mechanics workshop this past weekend. It was such a great group, and I’m excited to share that we’ve added another workshop to the schedule in Asheville, NC this fall. We are also working on another LA workshop for November for our California folks who missed this last one. See our full workshop schedule In addition to teaching, I also ran the Disneyland Half Marathon. I snagged a...

Hey there! This week’s newsletter is all about returning to running after pregnancy. I took about a 10 year hiatus from racing after competing in college and into my early adulthood. Running was still part of my life, but getting back into racing felt hard as I navigated pregnancy after pregnancy. Running often felt really uncomfortable during pregnancy, and then once I finally felt ready to train and race again, I also felt ready to have another baby. It was a beautiful cycle, but it meant...
